TIMBERLINE
Nagano Prefecture, Japan
Nestled in the forested slopes of Nagano Prefecture, Japan, Timberline is a vertical retreat that blends Nordic restraint with Japanese serenity. Though modest in footprint, its towering form slices through the landscape like a modern totem — an intentional gesture toward simplicity and stillness.
At its core, Timberline is an interior design study, not just an architectural one. Every space was crafted as an exploration of light, proportion, and material tactility. The palette is warm and natural: soft plasters, pale wood grains, and expressive sunlight filtering through strategically placed openings. From the custom shelving beneath the stair to the compact kitchen arrangement, every interior decision was a test in spatial clarity and emotional tone.
This project was an exercise in creating atmosphere over scale — proving that when interior design is approached as a narrative rather than decoration, even the smallest spaces can feel complete. Timberline is not about showing off; it’s about what it feels like to be there.
